FunTalker- Child safety standards
Protecting
Children. Always.
FunTalker has an absolute zero-tolerance policy for any content that exploits, harms, sexualises, or endangers minors in any form. Violations result in immediate permanent bans, mandatory referral to the NCMEC CyberTipline (missingkids.org/cybertipline), and cooperation with law enforcement.
Age Requirement & Signup Block
- All new users must select their date of birth on a Month / Day / Year scroll picker
- If the calculated age is under 18, the Continue button is hard-disabled — registration is impossible
- This applies to all users — no exceptions, no override
- The screen displays: "You need to be at least 18 years old to continue."
Google Play Age Signals API
FunTalker uses the Google Play Age Signals API as a device-level verification layer, supplementing our in-app birthdate gate with a platform-enforced signal.
- The Play Age Signal is evaluated once at session initiation — it is not continuously monitored
- The signal value is never stored on FunTalker servers — it is used only for the access decision and discarded
- The signal is never shared with third parties or advertisers
- This creates a two-barrier system: Google Play device-level signal plus in-app birthdate gate — both must pass for access
- Users without a Google account on device fall back to the birthdate gate only
Our Three-Layer Protection System
FunTalker implements three independent layers of child protection, each designed to catch what the others might miss.
- Face Detection — Monitors whether a user's face remains visible throughout a video call. If a face disappears from frame, the system flags the session
- Sensitive Content Detection — Automatically detects explicit or inappropriate content appearing during live video calls
- Real-Time Blur — When sensitive content is detected, it is automatically blurred for the other user before they can view it
- Default Protection: The "Blur sensitive content" setting is enabled by default for all users
- All detection runs on-device — live video is not permanently stored on our servers
Any user can report another user at any time using the in-app Report button. The following categories are available:
- All user reports are received immediately by the FunTalker moderation team
- Moderators can view the reported user's profile, content, and full violation history
- Child safety reports trigger immediate human review — not queued with general reports
- All enforcement actions are logged with timestamp and reason for accountability
- Content removal — remove specific video session or profile content
- Account warning — formal notice sent to the user
- Temporary suspension — restrict account access
- Permanent ban — irreversible account termination
- Escalation to law enforcement — for child safety and serious criminal concerns
Prohibited Content — Child Safety
- Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) — sharing, distributing, or displaying any such content
- Sexual solicitation of minors in any form, including through video, text, or profile content
- Grooming behaviour — attempting to establish an inappropriate relationship with a minor
- Any content that depicts, glorifies, or normalises harm to children
- Using FunTalker to facilitate contact with minors for any inappropriate purpose
CSAM Reporting & NCMEC Referral Protocol
- Step 1: Report received and immediately flagged as highest priority
- Step 2: Moderator reviews immediately — session paused or account suspended pending investigation
- Step 3: Content permanently removed from the platform
- Step 4: Account permanently banned — cannot be reinstated
- Step 5: Mandatory CyberTipline report submitted to NCMEC (National Center for Missing & Exploited Children) in accordance with 18 U.S.C. § 2258A
- Step 6: Full cooperation with law enforcement investigation — records and account information provided as legally required
Legal Compliance
- COPPA 2026 (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, updated Apr 22 2026) — we do not knowingly collect data from users under 13, and our 18+ age gate prevents minors from accessing the platform; biometric data is not collected; geolocation is country-level only; advertising identifiers (GAID) via CAS.ai are served to non-VIP users only
- GDPR-K — compliant with EU child data protection requirements
- Utah Minor Protection Act (effective May 7, 2026) — FunTalker complies with Utah's Minor Protection in App Marketplaces Act; the 18+ hard block satisfies the platform age-gate requirement
- Louisiana Age Verification Law (effective July 1, 2026) — FunTalker complies with Louisiana's age verification requirements for platforms with adult content; our birthdate gate and Play Age Signals API constitute our verification mechanism
- Local Laws — we comply with applicable Pakistani, international, and regional child safety legislation
- Law Enforcement Cooperation — FunTalker cooperates fully and promptly with law enforcement agencies in child safety investigations, providing requested records and account information as legally required
